Bump-Out program

n response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Durango and Business Improvement District (BID) created the Bump-Out program to encourage outdoor dining and business activity in downtown Durango. This temporary program allows businesses along Main Avenue and 2nd Avenue to use parking spaces and adjacent parts of the right-of-way for outdoor seating, conducting transactions, and displaying merchandise. The program is intended to support economic recovery while reducing the spread of COVID-19. BID and City staff made upgrades to this year’s program to improve safety, design and functionality of the bump-outs. The first phase of bump-outs will be installed on Monday, March 15 and are set to come down on November 1, 2021.

To improve safety and traffic flow, Main Avenue was re-striped into one lane for traffic in each direction along with a center turn lane prior to installing the bump-outs. Parking is free downtown on weeknights after 5:00 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday. Download a parking map here.
