In its relentless efforts to reshape the fabric of America’s downtowns, MODSTREET is all set to install two of its state-of-the-art modular parklets in Berthoud, CO. This project is a part of the Revitalizing Main Streets Program from Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).

June 5, 2021

MODSTREET is pleased to announce that the company will soon install two of its high quality, flexible, outdoor parklets in Berthoud, CO. The company strongly believes that downtowns play a critical role in a community’s character, and delivers innovatively designed products that address the needs of smaller communities by helping them re-imagine their downtown streetscape. The modular products from MODSTREET are tailor-made for restaurants, breweries, retailers and communities.

The installation of MODSTREET modular parklets in Berthoud, CO is a part of Colorado’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan, referred to as the Revitalizing Main Streets Program. In March 2021, the state legislature allocated $30 million to this Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project. The goal of this program is to implement transport related projects that will improve safety and yield long-term benefits to community main streets. As Colorado looks to bounce back after the pandemic, the program looks to help businesses reopen safely and find innovative ways for communities to reuse public spaces.

“Berthoud is on the leading edge of an emerging trend nationwide: reimagining what downtown could be with a more pedestrian and experience-oriented looks and feel. MODSTREET was proud to help Berthoud launch their vision, and we very much hope to work with other towns to follow suit,” said Roger Zalneraitis, CEO of MODSTREET.

The core of MODSTREET philosophy is to help communities rebuild and rebound from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Parklets have now emerged as an excellent alternative to repurpose streets, parking areas, and public spaces for people. The modular parklets from MODSTREET require no construction and cause no downtime whatsoever. The best part about these systems is that they can be assembled and disassembled in less than an hour. Moreover, the parklets can be repurposed into a variety of other things such as portable stages, barricades, etc.  These steel structures can withstand collision, and are connected by keystone-shaped wedged connectors.

\”We think parklets are a great way to boost our businesses, and the vibrancy of our downtown. Each parklet offers additional opportunities for businesses negatively impacted by COVID. And each parklet also creates a more vibrant and pedestrian friendly streetscape, bolstering the health and culture of our downtown.\” Curt Freese, the Community Development Director, Town of Berthoud.
